Insomnia and the Working Woman

Once again I am awake after only sleeping for 4 hours. I worked a 12 hours shift last night and I only slept for 4 hours and I have to work another 12 hours shift tonight. In have insomnia. My doctor gave me Temazepam for it but obviously it doesn't work. I don't know why I am blogging about this except for the fact that I'm frustrated and when I'm frustrated, I write. On a better note, I have been on a diet and have now lost 40 pounds. I am followed by my doctor and I exercise at least 4-5 days per week. I am very proud of myself because I have never been successful before at any diet program. I only have around 29 more pounds to go until I'm where I want to be. Anyway, this blog was sort of useless but, well, I can't be deep all the time. I'm too tired. Take care all!!

What Happened to Kids Today?

My husband and I were in Sears waiting to for him to have his eyes rechecked at Sears Optical. While sitting there I heard this blood curdling scream followed by the loudest display of poor behaviour that I have ever encountered in a public place by children. I'm from the time where kids behaved in public and did what they were told. These kids were jumping on displays and screaming so loudly that everyone in every part of the store could have heard them loud and clear. After climbing on a display of boxes, the little boy then began pulling all the DVD's off of a display and throwing them in the floor. All the while, these children's mother was sauntering along as if she was totally oblivious to the little hellion's behaviour. She never said a word to them. She never tried to clean up after them either. Not only I but the other people sitting in Sears Optical were appalled at this show of horrible behaviour. When my husband was finished he was staring longingly at an LCD TV with a Blu Ray DVD that was on it. We have been wanting an LCD TV for a long time now but have not been able to afford it. At this point you could still hear these children screaming in another part of the store. I had to make a pit stop at the bathroom and unfortunately had to walk right through the war zone created by these kids. They were jumping up and down on the mattresses like they were trampolines and screaming these squealing screams that make you want to somehow disable your hearing abilities if only for the moment to not have to listen to it. Their mother was not far away as usual---ignoring them and doing nothing to quell the behaviour. Now I can't say that I believe in child abuse or even spanking but what I do believe in is consequences and follow through. This is why the children of this time are out of control. Kids rule the roost nowadays, not the other way around. Kids have no respect for authority and will laugh in the face of discipline. I told my son long ago that if he acted like the little hellions of today that he has a military school in his future and I must say that both of my kids are good kids. I must have done something right. They have their moments but they would have NEVER acted like the little nightmares that I encountered at Sears. Those kids need some serious discipline which it was apparent that they don't get. Their mother's lack of caring for her kids behaviour should not be inflicted on the rest of the people that needed to be in that store at that time on that day. Nobody should have to deal with that behaviour at any time on any day. Parents need to stop with the over-coddling and instill in their kids a sense of responsibility, and a respect for others and some good old manners. This is not intended for those of us that take the time to make sure our kids behave the way they should. I realize that not all kids are lost causes today. I just seem to be seeing much more lately of out of control kids that the parents seem to have no clue or desire to discipline.

Sarah Palin--A fresh voice of sanity.

Every time I hear Sarah Palin speak I breath a sigh a of relief. She's fresh, blunt, and honest which is so different than the usual rhetoric. After hearing Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, and the rest of the bumbling Democrats spew their idiocy for so long it's such a welcome change to get to see and hear Sarah Palin. She's smart, informed, clear, decisive, and just a down home normal person. I don't think John McCain could have picked a better running mate than her. I think she will bring something to the Presidency that has been lacking for many years and I think that America needs her. There is a place in time for everyone and I think this is her place in time. She knows what the average person needs and isn't just up in Washington spending taxpayers money right and left for her own agenda. I, for one, can't wait to vote for McCain/Palin because they are what America needs to get back on track. Obama needs to go write another book since that's pretty much all he's ever done.

Barack Obama

Anyone that thinks for one second that Barack Obama is going to "change" thinks for the better is either blind, deaf or dumb. Barack Obama has no experience and though he likes to talk, he does not have the experience to act. If he becomes president, healthcare will be a joke. The government will mandate what the average person can have done, what medications that can be taken, and what tests can be performed. Patient care will go downhill because the way to save the money to pay for all this healthcare is to increase the patient load on nurses to increase the profit. Nurses are already overloaded in hospitals and imagine what it will be like when the patient load is increased. The nursing shortage will get far worse because many nurses will bail on the profession because the stress level will become too much to bear. If I were a cancer patient I would not want some idiot government official telling me which chemo treatment I qualified for. It's bad enought now with insurance companies. Imagine what it would be like if government were more involved.

As for the economy, I work for a living. I work hard and sometimes I have to work overtime to make ends meet. If I had to take a second job I would do that also. What I won't do willingly is allow some government bureaucrat such as Barack Obama take part of my hard earned money and give it to some schmo that doesn't work and that sits at home living off the system while I'm trying to feed my family. This man is going to turn the United States that I love into a socialist society that will be no less than a disaster. If he becomes President, it will be the biggest mistake that the American people can make.

Obama knows nothing about the security of this nation. If the United States bows out of this war on terror, we will look like a nation of cowards. Every terror group around is going to have a field day targeting our nation and our people and Obama will not know what to do. All he KNOWS how to do is talk. When action is required, he will fall short and America will suffer. If he does become President, those that voted him will regret it.

The Demasculinization of Man

I am so tired of commercials that make men look like bumbling idiots. I first noticed the trend about 8 years ago and it has gotten to the point where the media, commercials, and even the laws are designed to make men seem insignificant. In one commercial you have 2 women looking at miniblinds while the husband is attempting to barbeque grill outside. He sets the thing on fire, puts out the fire etc. while the women (ever cool and collected) look at miniblinds. In another one the woman moves her sleeping husband into a storage unit and leaves him there. The commercial ends with the man waking up and stumbling back into the house. A third has the woman cleaning the windows and the man waking from a nap and walking into the windows saying "it's not my house." Two birds are laughing that the man walked into the glass door. It is ridiculous that companies think that to sell products they have to "appeal" to women in such a way as to downgrade men to appearing like idiots while portraying women as nothing short of superheroes. I have written to some of these companies and informed them that I will not be using their products because of their biased commercials. Black and Decker for one can't even advertise a coffee maker without making a man look like a brainless wimp.

This idiocy is partly the result of womens groups that have a goal of making men unnecessary and insignificant. They target men via commercials, media and laws to make them virtually lower class than women. They get them with child support that is so overblown that a man can't live above poverty level while paying child support. The amount of support generally awarded is far higher than is necessary. Add to that the fact that when they award a support order they go back 2 years and tack on a debt of 2 years worth of back child support so that the average man ends up with a 25,000 debt the day the order is passed making it appear that he man is a "deadbeat" when in fact, the child support order was just enacted but the wonderful legal system tacked on a 2 year back debt. While a woman "has the right to choose", a man does not have that right. A woman can get an abortion if she decides that being a parent is not the right thing for her. A man is on the hook the second that woman decides to keep the baby and seek an order of support from him. There is no "right to choose" for a man. The choice is made for them by the courts and they are treated like criminals for implanting sperm into a woman that in many cases lied to them about birth control. My husband had previously been in a relationship with a woman that wanted to marry him. He made it clear that he did not want marriage or kids but low and behold but she decided to ditch the birth control and got pregnant thinking that would "force" him to marry her. When he would not marry her, she then sought child support. My husband only makes around $13 and hour but his monthly payment for this one child is over $600 a month. Add to that the 2 years automatic arrears that they tacked on that amount to around $24,000 and he's on the hook for a long time. If it weren't for me, he'd be homeless because there's no way he'd be able to live on the $500 a month that he is able to bring home. They make it virtually impossible to have the support order modified for the noncustodial parent. Every time we have tried, they have done nothing. As a result, my kids live with just the basic things while his kid gets $600 guitars, and name brand clothes that my kids will never see.

Then add on the "metrosexual" man. This is the man that is not gay but by all rights acts and dresses as if he is. The man that has more skin care products than most women and that has a feminine aura that would turn me off in a a split second but many women find attractive nowadays. I want a manly man. I want a man that works on cars, mows the lawn, and that wears jeans and a tshirt. I don't want a man that outdresses me. My husband and I work as a team, I am not in charge and he is not a bumbling idiot as is portrayed in numerous commercials. He pays his child support obligation that he was tricked into and we look forward to the day when we will be free of this debt. Bottom line is that this targeting of men needs to stop. Men are citizens that are as important as women. They are important to society, the economy, and to the women who love them. They should not be portrayed in the negative way that they are and the laws should not be biased to women while men are punished for something that a woman has a choice in. Things need to change.
